Banksy combined with Hydrophobic Silicon

Thanks to Eoin Pluincéid for taking these nice images of a silicon wafer coated with a very hydrophobic substance! By coating this silicon wafer with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)  it makes the surface of the silicon extremely repellent towards water.  PDMS is found in many household items such as shampoo where it makes hair shiny and slippery, contact lenses, food and lubricants.

It causes water to form droplets on the surface which can make for interesting reflection and lighting effects as shown in the photo below.
